JPEG XL Converter
Convert PNG, JPEG and WebP to JPEG XL, or turn JXL files into common formats. Conversion runs in your browser.
JPEG XL: still images up to 8 megapixels, converted to 8-bit pixels. HDR, animation and metadata are not preserved. Lossless refers to decoded pixels, not the original JPEG file. The preview also works in browsers without native JPEG XL support.
How to use JPEG XL Converter
- 1Choose a JPEG XL, PNG, JPEG or WebP image.
- 2Pick an output format and choose lossless pixels or a quality level.
- 3Convert locally, preview the image and download your file.
Before you start
Can I convert both to and from JPEG XL?
Yes. Create .jxl files from PNG, JPEG or WebP, or decode .jxl into PNG, JPEG or WebP.
Does my browser need native JPEG XL support?
No. The tool includes an on-device codec and displays a preview even when your browser cannot open JXL directly.
What does lossless mean here?
It preserves the decoded 8-bit pixels used by this tool. Original JPEG bitstreams, metadata, HDR and animation are not preserved. Still-image conversion supports up to 8 megapixels and 20 MB.
Are my images uploaded?
No. JPEG XL conversion happens in your browser on your device.
