Your library lives in this browser. Imported photos and edits are stored on this device, not uploaded to MakePip. Keep your originals and use File → Back Up Library: clearing site data, private browsing or storage pressure can remove the browser copy. Open the editor in one tab at a time.
How to use Photo Studio
- 1Open Photo Studio. The official LightCraft web editor loads on your device; use a current desktop browser for the most room.
- 2Choose File → Import Photos, or drag photos into the editor. Select a photo and use Edit for light, color, curves, presets, masks and crop controls.
- 3Use File → Export to download finished photos. Use File → Back Up Library to save originals and edits together before clearing browser data.
Before you start
Do I need to install LightCraft?
No. MakePip hosts the official LightCraft 0.14.0 WebAssembly release from storytold/lightcraft. Its editor, rendering workers and downloads run in your browser. First launch fetches about 49 MB of editor assets before compression.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. This editor imports photos into this browser’s Origin Private File System, or IndexedDB when needed. Photos and edits stay on this device. This differs from MakePip’s queued AI tools.
Which photo formats are supported?
The upstream engine supports JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP and multiple camera RAW families, including DNG, CR2/CR3, ARW, NEF and RAF. Camera and compression variants differ; some use embedded JPEG previews. HEIC support depends on the upstream build. Keep originals and test your camera’s files.
Will my library still be here next time?
Normally, in the same browser profile and on the same site. Browser data clearing, private browsing, denied persistence and storage pressure can remove it. Keep originals elsewhere and use File → Back Up Library regularly. Restore the backup ZIP on another browser with File → Restore Library from Backup. Use one editor tab at a time.
Does it have every desktop or AI feature?
The full upstream web editor includes light, color, curves, masks, crop, presets, ratings, albums, undo/history and export. Native disk integration and desktop AI model installation are unavailable here. WebGPU and some browser/RAW combinations remain experimental; this is not a promise of Lightroom parity.
Can I use a phone?
The editor follows its window size, but detailed controls work best on a desktop or large tablet. Try the dedicated workspace for more room. WebGL 2, WebAssembly, Web Workers and HTTPS are required.
