Your clips stay on this device. FilmCraft uses local browser storage for preferences, project recovery and eligible imported media. Download your project regularly and keep original clips separately. Recovery can be incomplete, storage may fill up, and clearing site data or using a private window can remove it. Keep one editing tab open at a time.

Use a desktop or large tablet for the multitrack timeline. Short, simple projects are a good starting point.

How to use Video Studio

  1. 1Open Video Studio in a current desktop browser. Automatic graphics mode uses WebGPU where available; choose WebGL compatibility mode if needed.
  2. 2Import your clips through File → Import or drag and drop. Create a sequence, arrange the timeline and adjust effects, titles, captions and audio.
  3. 3Download your project through File → Save As and keep original media separately. Use File → Export Media to create a video download; keep the tab open until it finishes.

Before you start

Do I need to install FilmCraft?

No. MakePip hosts the official FilmCraft 0.13.0 browser release from storytold/filmcraft. Its engine runs through WebAssembly on your device. The initial editor assets are about 42 MB before compression.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. This editor reads media locally, renders in your browser and downloads exports. Its recovery system can store project snapshots and eligible media in local browser storage. MakePip’s separate automatic video editor uses the private processing queue.

What can I edit?

The upstream web editor includes a multitrack timeline, trimming, effects, transitions, color controls, keyframes, titles, captions and audio mixing. Codec support depends on the file and browser. Test a representative clip before starting a large project.

Will it handle long or 4K projects?

The web version shares rendering, mixing and export time with the interface. Large frames, long sequences or complex effects can be slow or exceed memory. Desktop features that need native threads, including some proxies and tracking operations, are unavailable. Start with a short, simple project.

Is project recovery a backup?

No. Download your project and retain the original media separately. Recovery uses this browser’s storage and may be incomplete, denied, full or cleared. Source files remain readable only while the tab is open unless a browser-stored copy is available. Use one editor tab at a time to avoid competing recovery saves.

Is it the same as the automatic YouTube editor?

They are separate tools. Video Studio is a manual timeline editor running locally. The existing automatic video editor sends an approved job to MakePip’s private processor for its supported automatic edits.
